A thigh lift is performed to remove any excess skin and fatty tissue to improve the shape and contour of the legs. It is done by excising the excess skin and is usually performed in combination with liposuction.
During your initial consultation with Dr Ritz, he will discuss the procedure with you, pre operatively, what happens during the surgery and your post operative care, and any risks or complications involved, there are risks associated with any surgery no matter how big or small, it is important you are aware of them and understand them. He will ask you questions about your medical history, and about your breasts. He will assess your thighs and your skin to ensure you are a suitable candidate.
You will have another consultation about 2 weeks prior to your procedure, to discuss the surgery again and answer any further questions you may have.
On the day of surgery you will admit anywhere from 30 mins-2 hours prior to surgery depending on the hospital you are at, Dr Ritz will see you again and draw pre operative markings on you , the anaesthetist will also speak to you. An incision is made at the top of the thigh near the groin, the excess skin is excised and liposuction is also performed.
You are required to stay in hospital for 1-2 days, you may also have drain tubes placed. Once they ar removed you will be put in a compression garment which is to be worn day and night for 6 weeks. You will come to our office weekly to have your dressings changed.
You are unable to drive for the first 2 weeks, you are also limited with physical activity, including heavy lifting and going to the gym for the first 6 weeks.
