During the procedure, you will receive general anaesthesia for your comfort. Dr Ritz will then create incisions on the marked areas of your body. Once the cuts are made, our surgeon will remove excess skin and fat from your lower abdomen. The skin from the upper abdomen is then pulled down and is sutured to tighten it. If necessary, Dr Ritz will also remove excess skin and fat around your thighs, hips, and buttocks. Depending on the number and size of the body areas being treated, the entire procedure can take 5 hours to complete.
After your surgery, you should expect mild pain and swelling at the incision sites. To reduce swelling and support the operated areas, you will need to wear a compression garment. Once your condition is stable, you will be advised to engage in light walking exercises. This helps prevent blood clots and improves your blood circulation. Dr Ritz will also prescribe medications for pain and inflammation to control discomforts. Before you go home, you will receive specific instructions on how to care for your wounds. This will also include your follow-up schedule and home medications.
